It was such a hit on Netflix when it initially debuted in 2020 that a second season was added not long after. The programme gained so much traction that the streaming service now also offers a Brazilian version of it. There are 30 singletons heading into the pods for the new season of Love Is Blind but, as fans of the show know, not all 30 will get engaged during their time on the show.
‘The Bachelorette’ (2003 – present)
Love Is Blind is an unconventional dating show where contestants don’t get to see each other until after they propose. The series begins with thirty singles hoping to make a connection as they date each other in “pods,” super cozy rooms where they can only hear each other through speakers. If they are successful at ‘falling in love’ then they must propose before they are allowed to meet in person.
But if reality dating shows are bad, I don’t want to be good. Every life requires a balance of high and low, and if there is one thing I know for sure, it’s that there is no low more engrossing than the Season 1 premiere of A Double Shot at Love with DJ Pauly D and Vinny. So if you’re looking for the entertainment version of your favorite comfort food, look no further. Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and Tip “T.I.” Harris judge this reality competition that sees young hopefuls compete to become the next hip-hop superstar. We have to start off by mentioning those three — a massive part of the show’s allure is the time we get to spend with them. The series’ format feels similar to options like American Idol.
But, despite being broken up, they just find themselves still thinking about what could have been between the two of them. Turns out, Tipene Funerals, located in New Zealand, is a hotbed for drama, antics, and spectacular combinations of the two. Surprisingly lively and respectful of the deceased people featured, The Casketeers is a reality universe that will suck you in for the long haul. As hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey explain, the matchmaking experiment begins with a pool of contestants getting to know each other via “pods,” adjoining rooms where they can talk to their hearts’ content but never see who they’re dating. If they agree to get engaged, the participants are allowed to meet face-to-face — where both their personalities and appearances can shine.
Afterwards, the dater can only choose one option worthy of a second date. It’s a classy formula with just enough first-date awkwardness to keep the secondhand-embarrassment pumping through your veins. Think of it as a real-life version of Crazy Rich Asians, but with twice the drama. The series follows the everyday lives of wealthy Asian and Asian-American socialites who reside in Los Angeles. Netflix has taken the concept of fast engagements to the next level. Love is Blind has men and women fall in love and get engaged before they even meet each other.
Offered a glimmer of potential with its 2018 season’s fully queer cast (also starring Kariselle from Perfect Match … how is nobody talking about that?), which included trans and non-binary contestants. The 2021 season of The Bachelorette Australia’s bisexual lead Brooke Blurton—a first in the history of the franchise—was another celebrated sign of progress. I imagine Nancy can watch this show and rest easy that the right decision was made after all on the show, because her ex was struggling on Perfect Match.
The singles are then tasked with trying to find each of their “perfect matches.” If they can divide up and get everyone sitting with their match by the end of the season, they win a ton of cash. Too Hot To Handle is not good, but it also could be exactly what you’re looking for. This Love Island rip-off places fifteen bathing suit-clad contestants in a villa, but the twist is that they have to abstain from all physical contact with one another in order to keep their $100,000 cash prize fund intact. Complete with thinly-veiled horny ‘self-discovery’ workshops for the self-proclaimed sex-fueled cast, each violation of the rules results in a deduction from the communal pot.

What to Expect from ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 4
Episodes are short, with no host or lingering characters. Though it’s a little forgettable, we’ve got to give Dating Around props for getting the Netflix dating show ball rolling. Savage Rhythm is set in Colombia and follows two dancers from different worlds as their interests collide — a classic trope improved by hot people and even hotter moves. The scripted drama follows Antonia (Paulina Dávila), a wealthy student at a prestigious dance school who’s vying for the lead in a production ofRomeo and Juliet. When she comes up against a harsh new choreographer who’s looking for something a little grittier than her elite education, she seeks help from Karina (Greeicy Rendón), a steel mill worker and street dancer from a popular dance troupe. Antonia pays Karina to help her take her dancing to another level that will impress the new choreographer, and their lives become entwined in unexpected ways.
But something I love about it is that it really does kick the drama up to a ten and is enjoyable to watch. There’s a Season 2 on the way, which is also going to feature a predominantly queer cast, so that’s super cool. I’m starting to think Netflix really likes making these dating shows. In this original, Dating Around follows different singles as they’re set up on SilverDaddies free trial five blind dates each. Let’s be honest with ourselves – even though we all might be in loving, committed relationships, sometimes we just can’t deny that romantic reality shows are our guilty pleasure. Even if you don’t have a significant other, sometimes all you want to do is sit back on your couch, and watch others find love – or completely fail at finding it.
The Great British Bake Off is an 11-season long ride for the viewers but once someone starts this show, they usually end up watching it to the last second. The other big release this week is Gabriel Basso-led series The Night Agent. Basso stars as an FBI agent Peter Hammond that works in the basement of the White House manning a phone that never rings until one night, it finally does.

Well, that’s kind of the gist of this series, where a group of single men and women make connections by speaking through a wall in rotating shifts. Prepare for some twists and a whole lot of awkwardness. The couples have diverse backgrounds and unique situations, but the one common denominator is that they aren’t close in age. Some of the couples on this show are pretty controversial which is worth noting before giving the series a watch. The content on this site is for entertainment and educational purposes only.
